REVIEW
Rebekah Murphy has been attacked and left for dead on an island 100 miles off the coast of New York which has been closed up for the winter. Facing months of survival before any chance of help arrives, she attempts to gather all of the information she can about the events in the lead up to her attack, at the same time facing the prospect that the assailants may return at any point to find her alive and finish what they started.
Back in New York, Detective Frank Travis is desperate to crack the case of a missing artist - Louise Mason - before his retirement. With only a few days left on the job, he finds a link between the artist and Rebekah's brother Johnny. What he doesn't realise is that finding these missing pieces to the puzzle has put himself and Rebekah in even more danger.
Missing Pieces is the perfect example of an unputdownable thriller. At 512 pages, it is not a quick read, so I would suggest you clear some time in your schedule before starting, as I challenge anyone to stop reading once you've read the first few chapters!
After years of reading and watching thrillers, I don't often get the heart-pounding tension I'm looking for in these types of stories, but I have to say that Tim Weaver is definitely the exception. I felt every ounce of desperation from Rebekah as she tries to escape the circumstances she has found herself in, and her torment at not being able to get home to her two young daughters.
The plot is complex and detailed, but the way all of the evidence is woven together through a mix of flashbacks and the present day was absolutely gripping - I didn't want it to end and loved the David Raker cameo. This is a five star read and more, if you are looking for a thrilling and unpredictable police procedural, I can't recommend it enough!
