REVIEW
Last year I was lucky enough to be on the blog tour for The Goodbye Man by one of my long-term favourite thriller authors, Jeffery Deaver. Here is the link to the previous review - https://amandallwyd.wixsite.com/thebutlerdidit/post/the-goodbye-man Today, I have the opportunity to share my review for the follow-up book in the Colter Shaw series - The Final Twist. This book continues straight on from the events in The Goodbye Man, where Colter Shaw has discovered cryptic messages from his father who was killed years before while investigating the corrupt organisation BlackBridge.
While following up on the leads left by his father, Shaw finds himself caught up in several different investigations. One in particular involving someone from his past who has lead an equally unusual life, but the pair work well together as they face some of the toughest criminals they have had to fight.
Shaw is a really interesting character, very meticulous and his upbringing (with a survivalist father) has obviously left its mark. He leads a very strange life as a reward seeker and is unlike any other fictional investigators I have read. In my opinion, it is his character which makes these books so unique and entertaining.
This particular story is very detailed and intricate, the individual investigations, including a kidnapping and a historical political mystery, could each have their own book, but are all woven together in a way that just works. The Final Twist has everything I have come to expect from a Jeffery Deaver thriller - extreme action, high-intensity confrontations, plenty of twists and turns and villains that you love to hate. I just hope that even though this is the last book in the trilogy, that this isn't the last we hear from Colter Shaw!
