SYNOPSIS
Winnie shares her big black house with Wilbur her big black cat. So sometimes she accidentally trips over him. Ouch! After some spells that make Wilbur look very silly, Winnie finds just the right magic to make sure she can always see him. It's a colourful Winnie and Wilbur adventure! Korky Paul's intricate artwork is full of madcap humour and crazy details to pore over.
Since Winnie and Wilbur first appeared in 1987, they have been delighting children and adults in homes and schools all over the world and more than 9 million books have been sold. Celebrating the wonderful relationship that exists between Winnie and Wilbur, this anniversary edition includes forewords by the author and illustrator, a gallery of Winnie and Wilbur's most magical memories, and sketches from Korky Paul's studio.
This anniversary edition celebrates 35 years of the original Winnie and Wilbur adventure.
REVIEW
Winnie the Witch was of one my favourite books when I was younger (it's no surprise that I ended up as a crime fiction book blogger!) I can't tell you how many times I read it over and over and it was actually my first ever #HouseGoals. The illustration above of Winnie sitting in her mansion after it had turned full colour has stuck with me ever since and I am still to this day searching for a real house that lives up to it.
Because I was such a huge fan, I am very grateful to Oxford Children's Books for sending me this stunning 35th Anniversary hardback edition of the book that I can now pass on to my daughters, who I am sure will love it as much as I do. This edition of the book also has an introduction from the author and illustrator, as well as a 'Behind the Scenes' look at how the illustrations were developed.
In addition, I have also been sent some lovely activity sheets, stickers and props to use and as it is half term in Wales next week, these will be the perfect Halloween activities to keep us all entertained. Check back on my socials next week if you want to see how these turn out!
This new edition of the book would make the perfect gift for children (or any other adults like me who were fans the first time around!) The gorgeous illustrations and wonderful story of the relationship between Winnie and Wilbur are here to stay and will no doubt be celebrating many more anniversaries in the future.
Thanks to Midas PR - @midaspr and Oxford University Press - @OxfordChildrens for the opportunity to read and review.
